Everything started when, in the same way the Island of Elba casts a spell on visitors, Napoleon was enchanted by Monsieur Clery’s daughter, the future queen of Sweden at that time. Many years would pass until Tancredi Pasero, one of the 20th century most talented opera singers, was determined to move to Spartaia captivated by Elba. Passero, who had performed at La Scala, the Metropolitan, the Colon and Covent Garden, named his home after that beloved woman and then the hotel was conceived. The hotel has been in the family since it was opened in 1957. The owners together with the staff infuse their guests with the same love the island and hotel have always inspired.

Surrounded by the lush Mediterranean scrub park of 7 hectares, near the swimming pool, lighted by candles and the stars, the pool grill is open from mid June to late August for guests to feast on Mediterranean dishes and grilled fish. At lunch time the beach bar pampers guests with its salads, pizzas, fresh typically made sandwiches, pasta dishes and a children’s menu. The Sparto plant growing on the dunes and along the sandy beaches gives the name to Spartaia on the little bay on the Gulf of Procchio. The sea varies from shades of turquoise to emerald green.
